Non Profit Health Organizations
|
A non profit organization is very much similar to a charitable or service organization that does not provide services for the sake of profits. These organizations are controlled by its board members who are not subject to any means of personal benefits. These members of the board can neither sell their shares to anyone. This implies that each earning of the organization is in turn retained by the organization itself and is preserved for any future plans to come.
Non profit health organizations are those that are dedicated towards saving lives and helping others. A non-profit health organization probably concentrates on environmental health, health education and training, community health etc. While speaking about environmental health, the primary focus is on developing resources for water and sanitation. This involves measures to prevent and control water-borne diseases since they are one of the most serious causes for mortality in the rural areas. The ultimate goal is to observe a drop in the level of water-borne diseases. A number of water sanitation projects are followed to result in a well-built and sustainable infrastructure.
Another significant factor of non-profit health organizations is accomplishment of various health programs that could trigger and sustain interest among the participating community. Community health care pays primary attention to maternal and child care. This is because, in the areas surrounded by poverty, the health of women and children in particular, is noticed to be very poor. Non-profit health organizations provide vaccinations to the children and mothers in areas of such population. They sometimes make a tie-up with family planning clinics to illustrate the necessity of reproductive health and provide reproductive health services.
Non profit health organizations also do not fail to create awareness on fatal and malignant diseases like AIDS, carcinoma etc. among the people. They strive to fight against these deadly diseases by initiating an education cum prevention project among the high risk population. At times, they also provide these people with an opportunity to get themselves tested, give counseling about such diseases and if required, refer them to the district level hospital. In order to accomplish these tasks, the non-profit health organizations provide training to the associated health professionals, community workers, local villagers and willing volunteers. Non-profit health organizations can thus be referred to as the heart of the healthcare sector in any country as they always promote and encourage support for new health policies while involving themselves for fund raising activities so as to carry out disease research and prevention programs. |
